Birds!

Birds are so quirky! I bought a bird feeder last week because I am having pet withdrawals... and oh my goodness! There are so many! They are all over the feeder, sometimes five at a time, and as I am typing, about 10 in the bush right in front of my porch with two eating on the ground. There was even a cardinal earlier! Mostly there are little finch looking brown birds that are cute and go peep peep! I love them. Jason is teasing me for it, because I am spending his "hard earned money" on birds that would have been perfectly fine if I had not fed them. I tell him that's what he gets for not letting me keep my fish tank or get a cat or dog yet. HEHEHEE! But really, these guys are great "pets", all i have to do is refill the feeder and sweep their mess off my porch. Easy! And another thing, I have never watched birds this much, and they are teaching me something cool. I really am getting a sense of what Jesus was talking about in Matthew 6:

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?"

Birds don't worry. Crazy concept for a human who has a problem not worrying. They just wake up, say good morning to their mate, sing with their friends, and start looking around for food that God provides while being cautious to not get pounced on and eaten. They are careful of how they approach their surroundings, but they don't worry. They trust God and their eyes are open to look out for God's provisions and blessings. Then they go back to their tree in the nest that they built and sleep, wake up, and do it all over again. Always celebrating each morning with song and talking to the birds they love. Fascinating. :)

  1. It is a joy seeing those sweet little birds when I visit. I love the verse as well. So thrilled that you two are settled in your apt. You did a fabulous job of transforming your apt. into your first home! ;) We love you both so much!
